The goal of the Organization Committee is to support Staunton Main Street, USA by developing and sustaining a well-managed, volunteer-driven organization.
To accomplish this mission, the committee will focus on the following objectives:
1. Present the program to the public.2. Recruit members.
3. Recruit, train, and reward volunteers.
4. Assist the Board of Directors with fundraising strategies.
5. Develop and ensure organizational leadership.
6. Assist with personnel and office management.
Members of the Organization Committee developed a Membership Brochure for general dissemination to the public as a means of generating membership in the program. Membership dues are the main source of income for the Main Street Program, a not-for-profit organization. In addition, the Organization Committee arranged to have the Main Street logo printed on special T-shirts and sweatshirts to sell at local festivals and events.
Other fundraising activities include manning the Main Street booth at existing community events, planning and implementing, in collaboration with the Promotions Committee, an annual "Heritage Day" festival, Staunton's Own Antique Road Show, a Chicken and Beer Dance. We also have to offer a series of note cards and a Christmas ornament depicting the Gauer Building, both of which were created from the pen and ink drawings of local artist Jim Makula.
The Committee is also in the process of developing informational materials about the Main Street Program, and designing and implementing a 'Sponsorship Opportunities" brochure, a monthly newsletter, and a recognition program to acknowledge the assistance of volunteers, and in producing a quarterly newsletter.
