  • Recruit, train, and reward volunteers
  • Develop fund-raising opportunities and programs
  • Develop and ensure organizational leadership
  • Assist with personnel and office management

Accomplishments:

  • The Organization Committee is the managerial backbone of the Main Street program. Members of this committee not only manage the finances of the Staunton Main Street, USA, they also assist with many of the administrative functions associated with keeping the office open and available to the public.
  • We hosted the General Membership Meeting of September 2002. The Organization Committee oversaw the nomination committee that developed the slate of new Board members and made all the arrangements for the meeting. The General Membership Meeting was held and the new Board members were installed.
  • Since then, the Organization Committee has devoted much time and attention to its fundraising objective. The most profitable fundraiser for 2003 was the Chicken 'n' Beer Dance, which netted more than $5,700.00. Other events included a Tupperware Party, Heirlooms on Parade, a raffle for a Mountain Bicycle donated by one of the Board Members, Cindy Leonard and we sponsored and built a float for the 4th of July parade. The Staunton Main Street also hosted Regional Board Training for the Illinois Main Street.
  • In cooperation with Staunton Main Street's other three committees, members of the Organization Committee continue to man booths at various events throughout the year, offering a variety of Main Street memorabilia for sale to the public, thereby expanding knowledge of and interest in the Main Street program. They also continue to develop and implement programs aimed at enlisting volunteers and increasing membership in; the Main Street program.
