Hours:  Thursday – Friday     8 AM – 12 Noon

Saturday     9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Recyclable Materials Preparation Guide

 

Newspapers – Store in paper grocery bags or tie bundles with string.  Must stay dry.  Keep separate from other papers.

 

Glass – Rinse jars and bottles of residue.  Remove lids and metal rings, and put with steel cans.  Labels may remain.  Sort by color:  clear and brown.  No window glass, Pyrex, light bulbs or ceramic.

 

Steel (tin) Cans – Rinse clean, labels may remain.  Flatten for easier handling and storage.

 

Plastics – Nos. 1 and 2 such as milk jugs, soda bottles, laundry detergent bottles.  No lids.  No items in which neck is larger than container (for example, cottage cheese containers).  No motor oil or car care product containers.

 

Magazines and Catalogs – Keep loose and put in proper bin at recycling center.  No newsprint type magazines such as Reader’s Digest or TV Guide.

 

Aluminum – Clean all aluminum foil, pie plates TV dinner trays and pans.  Aluminum gutters, siding and storm doors are also accepted.  All aluminum cans are donations to our program.

 

Telephone Books – Keep separate and put in proper bin at recycling center.

 

The Staunton recycling site is operated by We Care Recycling, a non-profit organization.
